The Lions Memorial Forest in Ottawa holds a special connection for the Stittsville District Lions Club.
It is a place where we can remember and honour Lions from our own club and across the Ottawa area who dedicated so much of their lives to serving their communities.
Their friendship, commitment and service helped shape the Lions Clubs we know today.
Today, a crew from our club headed out to the memorial forest to do some maintenance around the trees and surrounding grass, helping to keep this special place looking cared for and welcoming. A big thank you to our Lions who rolled up their sleeves today!
As we continue serving Stittsville, we proudly remember the Lions who came before us and the difference they made. 💛💙

I wanted to give you an update on my 2026 blind golfing journey and share some of my results with you. Your continued support and sponsorship mean a great deal to me and have helped make these opportunities possible.
Here are my golfing results for this year:
● July 2026 – British Blind Open: 4th Overall in the B3 Gross Category
● August 9–10, 2026 – Simcoe Provincials: 2nd Overall – Stableford
● August 16–20, 2026 – Western Saskatchewan G&C Invitational: Overall Champion – Stableford
● August 20–26, 2026 – Canadian Championships, Moncton: 3rd Overall
I’m very proud of what Woody and I have accomplished this season, and I’m truly grateful to have you supporting us along the way.

Hi Everyone,
This email is long overdue as my schedule has been busy. I am happy to share with you that I've reached my fundraising goal!!! Thank you all for your amazing support!
I will be leaving for England today to shoot the British Open Championship followed by the World Championship.
My first competition this season was the Victoria Day Match where I came in second overall and had the highest v-bull count. In July I was in British Columbia where I competed in Westerns and Nationals. I was able to meet all of team Canada and practiced with them. It was a week full of tough winds and lots of learning lessons.
I’m looking forward to competing in England for the world championships!

Stittsville District Lions Support ALS Awareness
The Stittsville District Lions Club was pleased to support the 4th Annual ALS Awareness BBQ & Live Music Event, held on Sunday, July 12.
This annual community event helps raise awareness of ALS and provides important funding to support individuals and families affected by the disease, while helping advance the search for a cure.
The event brought the community together for an afternoon of live music, food and refreshments, all in support of a very worthwhile cause.
The Stittsville District Lions Club proudly donated $300 in support of the event and its efforts to make a difference for those affected by ALS.
We are proud to support initiatives that bring our community together while helping those in need.

Recent Feedback
Reading the results of the recent Effective Speaking Contest in the July 10, 2025 edition of Your Community Voice brought back many fond memories. When our children were younger, my wife and I entered them annually in this contest at the Stittsville Lions Club. It was an incredible experience. The skills that they developed at an early age, preparing speeches and presenting in front of judges and audiences have paid dividends for them. In their respective careers, each of them is regularly required to speak in front of others and they use the skills that they learned. We have seen the benefits of this contest firsthand.
Standing up and presenting in front of others can be very intimidating. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way, on the job as a young adult. The Effective Speaking Contest provided by the Lions Club provides students at a young age the opportunity to develop and fine tune these skills. At some point in time, we are all asked to communicate to a group of individuals either formally or informally. Many careers require this skill. A contest such as this at an early age provides an excellent foundation for lifelong learning.
When I saw the advertisement for the “Lion on the Beach” fundraiser to support the community, we did not hesitate to purchase a ticket. It was our way of thanking the Lions Club for organizing the Effective Speaking Contest again and thereby providing this unique opportunity for the youth in Stittsville, in addition to the many other initiatives that the Lions support.

Effective Speaker Results
We're ROARING with excitement to announce that our Effective Speaking Contest winner in Stittsville took the first place championship at the District A-4 level competition and went on to place 2nd at the Multiple District Competition in Toronto.
This success highlights what our Lions Club speech program is all about: building confidence, developing communication skills, and promoting youth in our community to become leaders.
Join us in congratulating our champion speaker as they continue to inspire us all with their remarkable talent and dedication.

This event is a cornerstone of our efforts to support the vital programs and initiatives that strengthen our community.
